WELCOME TO

WHITE BISON Therapy Collective

White Bison Therapy Collective (WBTC), or White Bison Therapy, was founded by Amanda Arrington, LMFT, and Lori Lund, LMFT out of a desire to build a loving, non-judgmental, and safe community of folx who are ready to band together and face their storms of life head-on. As couple and family therapists, we work primarily from a systems perspective

You’re in the right place.

We value high-quality, ethical care that is based on research and best practice. We also love to think outside of the box! We regularly use experiential techniques including play, sand tray, art, psychodrama, trauma-informed yoga, music, and outdoor/adventure therapies. We also offer intensives in which the client and therapist can decide to work together for a ½ day, full day, or several days.

Our primary focus is on trauma, repairing and embracing spiritualities, and working with diverse populations including the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, we work with a wide variety of other issues. We regularly work with and welcome individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and family structures.

How Do I Know When I Need Therapy?

If you don’t need therapy, don’t go. That seems simple, right? In reality, trying to figure out if you truly need therapy or should wait to see if you can fix a problem without professional guidance can be a difficult question.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you in that decision-making process:

  • Is this problem a one-time issue or has it become a pattern in my life?
  • Have I tried to fix this problem without success before?
  • Have my loved ones told me that I should go to therapy?
  • Does my life, or any part of it, feel out of control?
  • Is my problem negatively affecting my day-to-day life (i.e., my relationships, job, school, finances, fulfilling my responsibilities)?
  • Am I out of ideas for how to approach my problem?
  • Is the advice and support that my loved ones are giving me not quite enough?
  • Do I know what I could do to fix my problem, but can’t follow through?
  • Do I feel hopeless about my ability to change my life for the better?

How to Find the Best Therapist for You

The process of finding a therapist can be a daunting task. However, research shows that 80% of the effectiveness of therapy is dependent on the relationship between client and therapist, and 20% is the therapist’s theoretical leanings, training, and skill level, etc. Take your time and shop around just like you would for a big purchase - you’ll be glad you did! Therapists expect some “shopping” and most will do a free consultation to help you find the therapist that works best for you. If you feel like our approach might be a good fit for you, let’s schedule a free consultation session so you can know for sure. You deserve the best support possible!

We don’t want to waste your time and money at White Bison Therapy if you don’t need to be here. We don’t want to keep you here longer than necessary. If you aren’t sure if therapy is right for you, we can meet for 1-3 sessions to help you make the right decision, or even just to give you some fresh ideas before you go on your way.
